Safety is a core value at ABC New Mexico. We are committed to supporting our members in building safer job sites, reducing incidents and promoting a culture of proactive safety engagement.

EPA regulations (40 CFR Part 82, Subpart F) under Section 608 of the Clean Air Act require that technicians who maintain, service, repair or dispose of equipment that could release ozone-depleting refrigerants into the atmosphere must be certified. EPA 608 Certification Classes are held regularly at the ABC Training Facility. The class requires self-study prior to the day of testing and involves a two-hour refresher followed by three hours to complete the test for certification.

ABCNM apprentices earn competitive wages and benefits while working on the job. An apprentice’s wages are based on a percentage of the journeyperson rate for public works projects or a wage survey for non-public works jobs. Classroom and on-the-job training requirements are based on the length of the program.

ABC New Mexico’s Apprenticeship Affairs Committee supports apprenticeship and workforce development programs by assisting with applicant interviews, program engagement, apprentice support and disciplinary review processes. The committee works to promote professionalism, accountability and workforce excellence within ABC apprenticeship programs.
